Casa Gavines

A home with showers under the stars

This straight-line house is characterised by the interplay between the interior and the exterior. You can enjoy the experience of having a shower while looking at the stars. And, thanks to the large windows and the curtain wall, the garden is part of the interior rooms.

The house, located on Majorca, has 681 square meters built and 1,485 square meters of plot, and is made up of 6 rooms, 3 terraces, 4 guest bedrooms and a master bedroom. The common areas open up to the pool area, which is the central point at which the house looks and envelops. The mix of materials presents a play of textures, combining stone, aluminium and cement.

The straight and white lines of the architecture contrast the browns and organic shapes of the stonewalls. The cantilevered pergola stands out as construction element. Its construction entailed a certain technical difficulty, but the resulting element that looks at the garden gives the ensemble a unique personality.

Lightness between floors

The staircase was built not only as an element that allows the flow of movement between floors, but also as an aerial and volatile element that provides visual freedom of spaces. With this idea in mind, we suggested a central glass partition and floating wooden steps. This made the whole lighter, preventing it from looking like an eye-catching heavy block.

Outdoor showers

All rooms have outdoor showers to enjoy the experience of showering under the stars. This indoor and outdoor interplay is one of the main features of his house. The Majorcan environment is present in all rooms, thanks to the flows created in the bedrooms. Peace, nature and calm imbue every corner of the house with the essence of the surroundings.

The walls

Two types of walls stand out in the house. At the entrance, there is a cantilevered wall over the water pond acting as an ambassador that welcomes the guest. Its sandstone construction seems to fly in a natural setting. And, in the private area of the rooms, there is a large curtain wall with windows open to the garden area. This allows the interiors to integrate with the surrounding environment and nature, creating luminous and natural rooms.

Coexisting with this place is the essence of a full experience.
